Beginners CNC Operator Course with Fanuc Controls – Milling

This course is for people looking to acquire the basic knowledge and skills to become a CNC operator.

It is an Entry Level course. As such, attendees do not need prior knowledge of CNC machine tools or their layout and configuration as this, plus an overview of Fanuc Control technology, will be covered on the course.

Time will be spent ensuring that attendees understand the basics which includes:

• An introduction to milling machines
• Machining principles and some machining terminologies
• Axis configuration and the description of the Fanuc CNC control system
• An overview of cutting tools and tooling
• Setting tool lengths and radii, geometries & wear offsets
• Understanding work-holding: different methods and best-practice
• Clocking-up Vices & 3 Jaw Chucks using D.T.I.'s
• Manual Data Input (MDI): what it is and why it's used
• Datum setting and adjustment
• CNC Programs: what they are, what they do, and proving out
• Trouble-shooting: tool wear, swarf clearance etc.
• Machine tool set-up and machining components
• General Health and Safety and good housekeeping

This course is run at the Mills CNC Machinery Solutions Training Academy's facility in Leamington or could possibly be held at a customer's facility. (Course costs will differ for this option.)

This course is practical in nature and attendees will have access, during the course, to a Doosan Milling Machine with either a Fanuc, Siemens or Heidenhain Control.

If training occurs at a customer's facility, it is important that attendees have unrestricted access to a machine tool not used in production - with vices, cutting tools, materials also available.

• Day 1: Start: 9.30am - Finish: 5.00pm
• Day 2: Start: 9.00am - Finish: 4.00pm
